CONTEXT
The TaskRabbit Tasker app is a tool for our Taskers to manage their Clients and their business. An extensive research was conducted in December 2017 on the Tasker App around how our Taskers use this app in everyday work.
TaskRabbit Tasker app (iOS), TaskRabbit Tasker app (Android)
One of the top findings from research is:
Taskers spend a lot of time doing prep work on the day of or the day before because it’s not easy to find what they’re looking for in the app.
Therefore, we want to improve navigation and create a place where Tasker can easily finish their prep work.
I was involved in the very beginning of the project when we deconstructed the old app into sections of content and then regrouped into clusters:
Then I was away when other parts of the app were being designed and built through several sub projects. I came back to the project for the last step when we needed to glue everything together and create the new place for Tasker’s day to day prep work.
PROBLEM
Taskers spend a lot of time doing prep work for the day.
It’s hard for Taskers to navigate through the app to find what they’re looking for.
GOAL
Wire every finished parts together with a new navigation and a new page/dashboard to help Taskers do their daily prep work.
EXPLORATIONS
USABILITY TEST
We made a high fidelity prototype and tested with several Taskers (both new and Elite Taskers) in a series of 1 on 1 interviews. We got solid positive reactions on the bottom navigation and the ability to see today’s scheduled tasks. We also received feedback of desired information that they’d love to see on this new dashboard area. This confirmed that a personalized dashboard will allow us to offer many potential ways to help our Taskers to build their business in the future.
FINAL DESIGN
PROTOTYPES
RECAP
Currently the new navigation and dashboard is rolled out 100%.
How are we doing with the problems we’re trying to solve?
Taskers spend a lot of time doing prep work for the day.
According to the usability test, Taskers seem to be really happy to see all their today’s tasks in one place (was no way to see them together before)
Need to keep an eye on how Taskers using Same Day feature (more opt in or less)
It’s hard for Taskers to navigate through the app to find what they’re looking for.
According to the usability test, Taskers seem to be really happy with the bottom navigation because they can see everything at once.
We send Taskers experience survey every 4 months. We will need to see if we get better score for “Find what I’m looking for” next time.
